Anyone who does anything on RUclips is really at the mercy of RUclips a private corporation. It offers a great deal of freedom to the creators of the content. But RUclips sets all policy. None of the content creators has any real rights on it. The same seems to be the case for the whole internet. But RUclips doesn't own the content creators and they tend to get more from involvement than they give. A mega star capitalist like Musk "owns" his companies and it looks good as long as they are profitable. He could be owned by his creditors if those businesses go bust.

Ownership by "those in power" is not really new. It was the basis for most societies throughout history back to the Egyptians and even before them. Tribal peoples tended to be collectives. The american aboriginal peoples tend not to own anything in their own right. The more sophisticated and complex world governments like the Egyptians and Romans tended toward more state control of everything. Their standards of living tended to be higher too. Everyone in those ancient societies was "owned" by someone back then including those who supposedly owned most. Power and control tend to be very restricting even for those with power and control. That didn't change much even in the dark and middle ages as I understand those periods. Not that much actually. When I was born (about 1950) there were less than 3 bln people on the planet. When my father was born (early 1920's) there were less than 2bln. I "own" very little compared to some people even in the not very wealthy neighborhood i live in. There is no way for people to avoid the pressure to organize into social systems demanded by the huge population numbers we have now. Large nu mbers tend to be compromising of one's freedom of action. The question of ownership isn't nearly as important as the question of your rights and the legal protections you can count on. What protects your dignity as a human being within that structure? That is the most important aspect of any social system. If you don't have that even ownership , no matter of what amount, isn't much control of anything.
